C J Lewis

Based out of Denver, Colorado, C. J. Lewis is a man of many musical talents. Two of them that take up a great deal of his time are performing live & in studio as a keyboard player and working as a Music Producer.

Interviewer: Your musical gifts and inclinations showed up at an early age, didn't they?

C.J.: Oh yeah. You could say my music career began at the ripe old age of three, as I sat by my grandmother on her old piano bench. Since then, I've spent the last few decades living a career in the music industry. My life has been filled with many years of classical piano training, guilds and master classes, songwriting forums, and all types of performances. But the great thing with music is you always continue to grow.

Interviewer: You have amazing talent & skills. How have they grown over the years?

C.J.: Oh thanks. I think, as an artist, you grow technically. You discover deeper musical languages and continue to master your instrument… one experience at a time.

Interviewer: Where did you grow up?

C. J.: Well, I was born in Torrington, Wyoming (hub of the known universe!). I spent my entire childhood and high school years, playing in nearly every venue with a piano in the state of Wyoming. I also performed in so many places… Disneyland Theme Parks, the Smithsonian, the legendary Stauffer hotel, oh and of course… the Wyoming Territorial Prison. It was the 1989 Centennial Banquet with then Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney.
After high school, I entered college, and after two years as a Piano Theory and Composition major, I did a solo piano performance on a Carnival cruise ship. Not long after that, I joined the U. S. Army Band, then later I played in a number of rock and country bands.

Interviewer: Now you also work in the "Equipment side" of the Industry, don't you?

C.J.: Oh yes. In 1993, I started a career in the music retail industry. It's kind of a hobby I still enjoy today. I'm a Regional Sales Manager for Guitar Center Professional, Ultimate Support Systems, and Kurzweil Music Systems. I've been fortunate to have been able to consult with some of the most respected artists in the music industry. In 2004, I decided to start Digital Revolution Marketing. It's a manufacturer’s representative firm. I feel very blessed to be able to fill my life with making music that touches people and help others do the same.

C. J. joined Gunnpoint Music & Ministries back in 2002 as Musical Director and assisted in the direction and production of the GunnPoint Music CD releases ‘Trusting" and "Steady Workin’".

The year 2003 brought about "Guesswork", an improvisatory piano album that C.J. "composed" completely in the dark. In 2005, he was asked to contribute to a Vineyard Music USA release, Saving Grace earning assistant engineer and keys & B-3 credits. He continues to serve at his local Vineyard church in leadership on the worship team.

In his "spare time", C. J. enjoys his wife and children, sport shooting, and collecting studio gear. Currently, C. J. is in the midst of multiple musical projects – ranging from a modern rock band to cutting edge worship to producing a gospel stride piano album. He, his wife Kendra, and their three girls – Miciah, Trinity, and Seraphina live in Aurora, Colorado.
